Representative work
Ligia Popescu has an extensive expertise focusing on cross border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and privatization, competition law, bankruptcy and restructuring, EU and Romanian regulatory. She is also specialised in capital markets and real estate.
Advised numerous British, US and French companies and investment funds, on both the buy and the sale side, in relation to the acquisition of businesses and real estate in a variety of industries including, without limitation, pharmaceuticals, energy, insurance, car manufacturing and foodstuffs.
Representation in court and advice in relation to all aspects of cross border insolvency procedures and international private law.
She has been involved in negotiations with the regulatory authorities in relation to the authorisation of private pensions funds and of the operations in Romania of foreign insurers and insurance brokers, the authorisation of various operations in the shipping industry and the preparation of the tender documentation in the process of privatization or various Romanian companies.
Experienced in the coordination of teams of lawyers in large due diligence projects, the negotiation and drafting of the acquisition documentation in the context of multi –jurisdictional transactions.
She is a former diplomat and a lecturer in various conferences on competition and corporate law and a contributor to various legal publications.
